Jeffrey Saull's Tax Cut Drive Gathering Momentum At Hurricane Force
Families For Lower Property Taxes Collects Over 60,000 Signatures In Three Weeks
3/04/2004
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeffrey Saull's
constitutional amendment to cut property taxes moved a step closer to reality
today as his committee, Families for Lower Property Taxes, announced they had
collected over 60,000 signatures to place the amendment on the ballot.
"This is the first in what will be a series of successes for Florida
families," Saull said. "With hurricane force, we have reached the threshold
for Supreme Court review of our amendment. The speed with which support is
growing for this initiative is awesome," he said.
Saull's constitutional amendment lowers property taxes by increasing the
homestead exemption $25,000. Once approved by voters this November, Florida
homeowners who have filed for the homestead exemption will see a
$500 reduction in their property tax bill every year.
"Our website is getting thousands of hits each day as word of this
amendment spreads," Saull said.
Saull announced earlier this week that he has launched a media campaign to
educate Floridians about his amendment. Television and radio ads began airing
March 2 throughout Florida, resulting in a flood of visits to the website and
hundreds of petitions arriving at committee headquarters.
"All you need to do to get property tax relief is log onto
www.mypropertytaxcut.com and sign a petition" Saull said.
