Official Website Launched For Voters To Support Proposition To
Double Florida's Homestead Exemption

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Feb. 3/PRNewswire/ -- Millionaire Palm Beach businessman Jeffrey Saull -- founder of Families for Lower Property Taxes -- today launched the official website for his petition drive to cut property taxes in Florida. Voters may get behind the proposition by visiting the website at www.mypropertytaxcut.com.

The website is the first crucial step in the process of getting 488,722 signatures required to bring this issue before Florida voters. Saull's proposal is for a constitutional amendment increasing the Homestead Exemption from $25,000 to $50,000. That would mean over $500 in property tax savings for every Florida homeowner with a homesteaded residence.

Saull says he started this campaign for his mom and millions of other property owners like her who he believes need a tax break.

"The thousands of deserving Floridians -- seniors, working families and our servicemen and women -- who will benefit from this property tax cut are taking notice, coming forward, and signing up," said Saull.

"My office has been flooded with phone calls from people who want to know more about this proposition, and more importantly to find out where they can sign their names to help get this question on the November ballot," he said.

"Well, it's very simple. You just go to the website, www.mypropertytaxcut.com, click on Download Petition, print it out, sign and send it in," said Saull.

"We have begun to collect petitions in earnest and are overwhelmed by the level of support we are receiving thus far. At current response rates we expect to have no trouble obtaining the nearly 500,000 signatures it takes to reach the ballot and expect to reach the threshold for Supreme Court review (approximately 50,000) in the next few weeks," he added.

Over the past ten years property taxes have soared 78%, yet population increased just 21%. In the past decade alone, Saull said local government levied an additional $8 billion in taxes, spending this windfall at a staggering rate, causing local budgets to balloon and wasteful pet projects to proliferate. Saull said he expects to raise and spend $3 million to place his amendment on the ballot and educate voters, pledging to personally finance "as much as it takes to make it happen."
