TransMedia Group Reports 2002 Revenues up Over 40%; Says More Companies Turning to PR in Tough Times

PR Newswire -- January 6, 2003

BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedia Group said today it earned over $1 million in PR fees in 2002, making it one of the fastest- growing independent PR firms in Florida and far and away the largest PR firm in Palm Beach County.

TransMedia said its 2002 revenues were more than 40 percent above the previous year and such growth proves that companies will turn to public relations as a cost effective way to get their message out in a challenging economy. The firm expects 2003 revenues to be even stronger after signing full-year contracts with national companies.

Instead of scaling back as so many companies have done in a soft economy, TransMedia increased its fulltime staff to 14 publicists in 2002 and is now shopping for additional office space in Manhattan to expand into the New York metro market. The firm said an expanded NY operation will enable it to better serve a growing number of NY clients, including Jordache Ltd. and US Polo Association Properties.

"We're gratified to be increasing both in revenues and staff at a time when many businesses are shrinking," said TransMedia's Chairman Thomas J. Madden, APR. For much of the firm's success, Madden credits TransMedia President Mark Hopkinson and Executive Vice President Glen Calder and their respective staffs. Hopkinson has been with the firm for four years and Calder nearly seven years.

Madden also praised TransMedia Vice President Bruria Angel for bringing in a number of Israeli-owned businesses as clients in 2002. Ms. Angel joined TransMedia in 2001 after closing her own PR firm in Jerusalem, Israel.

Established in 1982, TransMedia is a full-service public relations and marketing firm serving clients worldwide. The firm's specialty areas include retail, consumer products, technology, health and medical, beauty and fashion, and the firm is noted for its corporate image building campaigns, financial PR and crisis management.

Madden started TransMedia in New York City with his wife Angela, who is CFO. Mr. Madden is a former VP, Assistant to the President, of NBC and author of several books, including "Spin Man." Over the years, TransMedia has won numerous awards, including a Bronze Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America. TransMedia's publicists speak many languages, including Hebrew, Spanish and Italian.
