Sale of 'We Stand United' T-Shirts by Practically Every Man, Woman and Child in Ohio Community Raises over $100,000 For World Trade Center Miracles Foundation

PR Newswire -- April 3, 2002

LIMA, Ohio, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The families of a restaurant worker, a deputy fire safety director, a Port Authority policeman and three employees of financial services companies killed during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center are to each receive $10,000 from the sale of "We Stand United" T-shirts.

Terri Tellez, co-owner of a custom sign and printing store who organized residents of the town of Lima, Ohio, to sell thousands of "We Stand United" T-shirts following the 9/11 attacks said, "As a community we felt we had to do something and the response from hundreds of community volunteers was truly amazing. We raised $104,000."

Tellez, who runs Compu-Sign & DeSign in downtown Lima, will donate the monies from the sale to the World Trade Center Miracles Foundation to aid its efforts in establishing endowments for families who lost loved ones. She has identified six families on the Foundation's "Adopt-a-Family" website www.wtcmiracles.com who will each receive $10,000, with the remaining $44,000 going to endowment funds for future expenses. "I was touched by the plight of the families that WTC Miracles Foundation is working to assist," she said.

Once she presents the check to the Foundation, Tellez said she also wants to present the money directly to the families.

On Thursday April 4, at 10.30 a.m. at Compu-Sign & DeSign, 1601 Allentown Rd. Lima, Tellez will present a check for $104,000 to WTC Miracles Foundation Chairman Mitchell Morrison. "It is the kindness and generosity of people like Terri Tellez and the Lima community who fuel our efforts on behalf of long term needs of families still suffering through this tragedy," Morrison said.

The Foundation is arranging for Tellez to present the money early next month directly to families she "adopted". She also hopes to present 4-foot-by-8-foot banners printed with media pictures of the Sept. 11 terror attacks to former Mayor Giuliani and President Bush.

This summer, the Foundation will begin planning a motorcycle ride from San Diego to Shankesville, Penn., where one of the hijacked planes crashed and then on to New York and Washington for the first anniversary of September 11. Because of Tellez's contribution, the route will cross Lima, Ohio.
