SunSpots, Inc. Trades Clouds for Sunshine and Retains
TransMedia to Expose New Generation of Sun Protection

PR Newswire -- February 11, 2002

BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/
SunSpots, Inc. has traded endless cloudy skies and rainy days for year-round sunshine with its recent corporate move from Seattle to Palm Beach Gardens.

In the process, the sun protection company has retained the TransMedia Group to provide sunny exposure for its new product SunSpots Stickers, nickel-size ultraviolet B indicators that help prevent sunburn by changing color when the day's UVB exposure reaches the danger point.

The SunSpots are the first in a new line of skin care products by SunSpots, Inc., that will usher in a new generation of sun protection devices. "SunSpots, with their scientific-based technology, take the guesswork out of when to reapply sunscreen after it wears off," said TransMedia Chairman Tom Madden. "They're stick-on smoke alarms for your skin. Our plan is to make SunSpots the spots to have on beaches this summer. Everyone will be asking: 'Where's your spot?'"

SunSpots, Inc. is already making a splash in the outside world as the official Sun Protection of the PGA Tour's Honda Classic, March 4-10. SunSpots will be providing golfers, volunteers and patrons with the newest generation of sunscreen. In addition, the company will be providing free skin cancer screenings for participants and visitors.

"Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers," said Lyle Durham, SunSpots CEO. "The number of cases is increasing. Every year, about 1.3 million cases of non-melanoma cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 53,600 new cases of melanoma in the United States this year.

"All of this suggests that, even though people are aware of skin cancer, they're not taking the proper precautions to protect themselves. The SunSpots stickers are important devices that not only raise awareness about the dangers of UVB exposure but also are the first tools that let you know when you need to get out of the sun or put on more sunscreen."

TransMedia Group is South Florida's preeminent independent public relations firm. It is the largest PR firm in Palm Beach County and one of the fastest growing independent PR firms in the U.S. TransMedia's national and international PR campaigns continually win awards and receive praise from PRWEEK, O'DWYER'S and other industry publications.
