Referendum on Chips? Washington, D.C. and
Florida Voters To Decide Which Chips Taste Better

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., and WASHINGTON, OCT. 9 /PRNewswire/
Ritz Foods is putting its product, Tropic's Yuca Chips, up for election in Washington, D.C. The company has called on attendees at the "Natural Products Expo East," in Washington, D.C. and the "All About You Expo," at City Place in West Palm Beach, to cast their vote this weekend for the best tasting snack chip.

The makers of Tropic's Yuca chips have called the election as part of a national best tasting chip challenge which will pit Tropic's Original, Barbecue and Sour Cream flavored yuca chips against other national brands of potato and yuca chips.

"We're calling on all snackers, aficionados of crunch and munch to lend us their taste buds and become a part of history," said Barbara Leon, Ritz Foods Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We're launching a national challenge to chip away at the competition from our stand at City Place where we'll take center stage at 4.15pm and at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday, October 13, from 11a.m."

"The Pepsi Challenge is a part of our culture now," says Leon. "What they did for soda taste tests, we're going to do for chips, except we are going against more than just one rival." In order to assure fairness, the chips will be transferred from their bags into individual bowls, each of which will be marked underneath and out of sight at all times. Each taste tester will be asked to eat one chip at a time and rate the chip on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

"We at Tropic's Yuca chips feel confident that people will enjoy the flavor-packed taste of our chip and will also appreciate the fact that this snack is 40% naturally lower in fat than regular potato chips, is high in fiber, and contains no cholesterol, additives, chemicals or preservatives," said Leon.

Yuca chips are made from the yuca, also known as cassava which has been a primary source of nutrition to more than 750 million people. Tropic's Yuca Chips is a division of Ritz Foods International in Delray Beach, and are available in the natural foods sections of Wholefoods, Wild Oats and Publix.
