Palm Beach Int'l Film Festival To Give Cash Prizes Along With New Destructible E-Mail Service Free To Filmmakers Who Splice 'Kablooey' Into Classic Hollywood Dialogue
Love is never having to say Kablooey?
08/28/2006
One of the world's leading
film festivals, The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF), is
going "Kablooey" this summer.
Mostly as a fun way to take minds off summer heat, the film festival
said it is offering cool cash prizes for the best entries by film buffs and
independent filmmakers in a Classic Hollywood Films Go Kablooey contest.
First prize will be $500 and runner-ups each will receive $250 or a free
ticket to the Festival's star-studded gala next April.
Kablooey is the name of a new destructible e-mail service whereby the
sender can place restrictions on e-mail, such as it cannot be copied,
printed or forwarded and the recipient has only so many minutes to read it
before it vanishes -- or goes Kablooey. Anyone can access the Kablooey
service for free by emailing entries to pr@transmediagroup.com.
"Because there's so much angst in Hollywood these days over privacy
invasion and film pirating, we believe a free, innovative new e-mail
service such as Kablooey will help protect filmmakers' privacy," said Randi
Emerman, the Festival's executive director. "So we're happy to be able to
give it out for free to independent filmmakers."
Emerman said she thought it would be fun to have a contest to see how
creatively a crazy name like Kablooey could be used in some famous film
dialogue. Here are a few examples:
The Godfather:
Kay Adams: Michael, is it true? Did you have Carlo's e-mail Kablooeyed?
Michael: Don't ask me about my business, Kay.
Casablanca:
"Go ahead, Kablooey my email," Humphrey tells Ingrid. "You'll be doing
me a favor."
Love Story:
"Love means never having to say Kablooey."
