With commercial airlines cutting prices to battle bankruptcy and increase market-share private jet charter companies like Hop-a-Jet Worldwide Jet Charter Inc., are seeing its reservations and charter services soar.
“We had an impressive holiday season with revenue increasing over the same quarter last year,” states Hop-a-Jet Charter Worldwide President, Barry Ellis. “It may be related to the recent troubles commercial aviation is causing travelers, especially this past holiday season then followed quickly by the blizzards of ‘05.”
According to the National Air Transportation Association (NATA), "The air charter market has seen a noticeable increase of 20 - 30% over the past few years." Hop-A-Jet is no exception. “Our sales have grown 25% since 2003 and continue to grow steadily. Our charter bookings increased 8% in the fourth quarter of 2004 over the same quarter a year ago in jet aircraft preferred by business travelers,” said Ellis.
The federal government recently stated that it would investigate the reason as to why companies like US Airways and Comair cancelled an estimated 1,500 flights combined and misplaced more than 10,000 pieces of luggage over the Christmas holiday. “With troubles like these mounting in the commercial arena, people are finding that private charter services alleviate these types of travel disasters by offering complete satisfaction and comfort,” explains Ellis.
“The corporate arena relies on the charter industry to keep deadlines and travel time down to a minimum. Instead of paying a hefty sum to purchase a company jet, many CEO’s look to the private sector to fly their executives and employees.”
“We have seen our services for business travel rise in line with the industry on a whole,” continues Ellis. “Private jet charter is starting to become more mainstream. People are now looking at convenience, efficiency and safety over price.”
