Candidates for the mock election process were told that they may not be given a role aligned with their actual allegiance to any candidate.

The middle and upper school students (grades 6-12) at Grandview Prep are all participating in this year’s election process, and are being graded in the process. Director of Studies Tiffany DellaVedova explains, “The students were assigned to become experts in the 6 key issues in this presidential campaign -foreign policy, domestic issues (ie. economy, immigration), social issues, healthcare, medical research, and energy/environmental issues. After scoring, assessment and an oral Q & A, the four candidate roles were assigned. They were told that they may not be given a role aligned with their actual allegiance.” The following students formally accepted on behalf of their respective parties:

The school has assigned each grade level to a state, the teachers as another state, and each state has proportionate electoral votes. This way, all the participants are able to demonstrate the concepts of both the popular and electoral vote on Election Day.
The culminating events are:
Wed. October 29th (9:00-10:00) Debate -- All four candidates will take part in a debate.)
Thurs. October 30th (10:00-12:00) Rally -- During this time, the students’ projects will be on display, everyone will be acting their roles, and the candidates will give their final speeches. The speeches have been written by all students (6-12) in all the writing courses after the students have analyzed the art of speech writing, and by selection, the speeches given to the candidates. The candidates will be allowed to edit and add to the final speech.)
Mon. Nov. 3rd Election Day -- The precincts will be set up again as voting booths for each state. Students in grades 5-12 and teachers/staff will vote.
