FR. MEDARD LAZ TO HOST BENEFIT
RECEPTIONS FOR HAITIAN UNIVERSITY

WHAT: THE WONDERS OF HAITI, a wine and cheese reception to benefit the University of Fondwa, the first rural university in Haiti to teach a new generation of students business management, agronomy and veterinary medicine. Fr. Medard Laz, President of University of Fondwa Foundation in the U.S., will host the events which will include Haitian dancing, art exhibits, refreshments and raffles. $25 suggested donation includes one grand prize raffle ticket to Atlantis, Paradise Island.

BACKGROUD: The University of Fondwa was founded in 2004 by Fr. Joseph Philippe, the originator of Fonkoze, the foremost micro lending institution in Haiti. Since its launch, Fonkoze has become the largest microfinance organization in Haiti lifting over 100,000 people out of abject poverty. There are now 34 branches throughout the country. Fr. Medard Laz offers mass on weekends at St. Anthony Parish and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Ft. Lauderdale and at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Boca Raton. His primary ministry is to the poor of Haiti. Med Laz is helping to build a Village in Haiti called Julie's Holy Family Village with the help of Food for the Poor and the generosity of many friends. Med Laz is the co-founder of Rainbows, a worldwide support program for children in single-parent homes. He is also the founder of Joyful Again!, a support weekend for the widowed. He is the author of nine books, including the best-selling, "Love Adds a Little Chocolate, 100 Stories to Brighten Your Day and Sweeten Your Life."
