Domino’s Pizza Founder Will Tour Nicaragua, Honduras and
El Salvador April 21-24 To Encourage Professional Network Sprouting From Seed He Planted at Ave Maria University
Will Announce New ‘Commitment to Entrepreneurship”
At Ave Maria University’s Rapidly Expanding Business School
4/14/2008
Domino’s Pizza Founder Tom Monaghan will tour Central America April 21-24 to encourage the continued flowering of a spirit for which he is world famous—entrepreneurship. Mr. Monaghan will also be visiting the branch campus of Ave Maria University as Chancellor.
The “Pizza Tiger,” as he is known from the title of his memoir, is coming here to witness the growth of a burgeoning professional business program sprouting from educational seeds he planted years ago that has turned a sleepy college into a dynamic University with a soaring business school enrollment.
Today Monaghan’s pride and joy, Ave Maria University Latin American Campus, located in Nicaragua is one of the Central America’s leading institutions of higher learning, which he believes will help transform the region into a more vibrant economy. The visionary entrepreneur expects the university to continue to stimulate job creation and prosperity for young people here and in nearby Honduras and El Salvador, where he also plans visits to thank supporters, donors and especially parents for sending their sons and daughters to study at what has become a regional center of higher education.
“We can’t wait to show Mr. Monaghan, how this apple of his eye is ripening so profoundly along with his newly-constructed Ave Maria campus in Naples, Florida whose eminent faculty and staff have been a tremendous help in revitalizing our campus,” said Ave Maria Nicaragua Provost Mathew Anderson. “By using technological connections and numerous personal visits we have taken advantage of our US faculty and administration’s expertise.”
Highlights of Monaghan’s four-day tour of the Central America region will include meeting for the first time the new Archbishop of Managua, Nicaragua, introducing its “Commitment to Entrepreneurship”, breaking ground for the university’s new library and presenting awards to Ave Maria business school students and announcing a new entrepreneurial educational initiative.
Ave Maria University Latin American Campus exists to further teaching, research, and learning in the abiding tradition of Catholic thought in both national and international settings. It is the second largest employer in Carazo and is dedicated in its focus to assist other regions to grow in prosperity, while maintaining its high ethical standards and commitment to serve its students. www.avemaria.edu/latinamericancampus/ For interviews or more information please contact Carla Pardo.
