Daum, the world-renowned luxury crystal creator of fine art pieces for over 125 years, proudly announces the launch of its 2009 ‘Vintage’ collection. The electrifying art pieces in the ‘Vintage’ collection present a range of exceptional vases inspired by the previously unpublished drawings of Art Deco genius, Pierre d’Avesn, who worked with Daum in the 1930s.
“This stunning 9-piece collection marries the contemporary trends of the 21st century with Daum’s exceptional design heritage of the 1930’s,” said Thomas Zimmerman, Executive Vice President of Daum. “For the first time, Daum has reinterpreted its Art Deco classics with a new style of sculpted patterns and animal scenes that blur the lines between fauna and flora.”
A main character of the Decorative Arts Movement, Pierre d’Avesn, became wildly popular in France in the 1930’s, while working at Daum, for his stunning interpretations of animals in the wild in their natural habitat.
The ‘Vintage’ collection features two distinct styles: ‘Vintage’ colour for traditional art enthusiasts; and ‘Vintage’ black and white to appeal to the modern collector. Retailing from $1300 to $16,000, each exceptional piece is hand-crafted with the pate-of-crystal and lost wax technique, a process that ensures a rich and subtle palette of color that is impossible to achieve with blown crystal.
